I was recently part of a group exhibition 'Homebodies' curated by Watercolous Society and hosted at 334 Broome St.
The exhibition featured functional art objects- artist made furniture, lamps, tchotchkes, ceramics, wares, wearable art, and zines.
From the Watercolour Society:
"Homebodies is an installation based on the artist’s living room. The show takes inspiration from the homes of the artists we love and transforms the gallery into a decorated apartment. We chose handmade and heartfelt ideas that energize our creative practice: paintings, expressive furniture, tiny sculptures, tchotchke collections, records/tapes, art books, funky tables, weird shelving—various things we would love to live around.
Watercolour Society posits that ‘group show’ can be a form or genre mirroring our world—one inundated with artists and makers. This form goes beyond being a mechanism of hype, it rather reflects the way we decorate our tiny apartments—encouraging peer to peer support structures and a culture of exchange."
